<div>Our son Michael was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia after what began as a simple visit to the pediatrician for a sore throat. After my husband, Joseph, tested positive for COVID, we wanted to make sure the kids were safe. Michael tested negative for strep, flu, and COVID, but by the grace of God, his pediatrician decided to run a CBC. The results showed critically low white blood cells, and further testing confirmed leukemia.

<div>When we initially created this GoFundMe, it was because my paid time off was limited and much of my FMLA leave would be unpaid. Although I have returned to work, I will continue to miss work throughout Michael’s treatment for clinic appointments, procedures, unexpected hospital admissions, and the times when he needs me most.

<div>We are also hoping for help with the ongoing expenses that come with his care, including frequent travel to and from the clinic and hospital, as well as meals during long hospital stays. Michael often cannot stomach the hospital food, especially when treatment leaves him nauseated, so we frequently have to purchase food from outside the hospital that he may be able to tolerate.
