Support Michaela and family in her Recovery

Donation protected
On November 20, our wonderful sister, daughter and friend had an emergency C-section, and gave birth to her beautiful son Enzo.

Michaela's pregnancy was very rough, and high risk, and earlier that week it was found that Enzo's umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck 4 times. The day after the ultrasound appointment, Michaela was not feeling much movement so went back to the hospital, where they then delivered the baby. Enzo was 6 weeks early, and spent 3 days in the NICU. He is a beautiful, healthy baby, and growing well. Michaela, however, was still in great amounts of pain.

A week after the C-section, she found out she needed to have her gallbladder removed, urgently. On Thursday December 17th, she had her gallbladder removed, and was able to go home that evening. On Friday December 18th, she was rushed back to the hospital with complications, and was admitted to the ICU in critical condition. She is now alert and oriented, but is still in the ICU, and the doctors are not sure when she will be able to leave ICU, and are not sure when she'll be able to return home to her new baby boy and her family.

Currently, they are running tests and managing her pain. She has another complicated surgery scheduled for tomorrow, Monday December 21. Her medical team hopes that this surgery will remove blockages in her intestines/stomach and hope that it will reduce the swelling in her pancreas. The entire outcome of her health depends on this surgery tomorrow.

Although she is receiving amazing care, the medical expenses are becoming quite costly. Michaela is the primary earner in her family, and there's no way to tell when she'll be able to return home, much less return to work. As it is, she will be in the hospital at least through New Year's Day, and that's if everything goes well and she starts to recover after the surgery tomorrow.

If you know Michaela, you know that she gives so much to her friends, family and community. She is always there to help anyone in need, and has paved the way for so many to receive better education and to have a better life. Now, due to these unforeseeable and very scary medical issues, she's unable to be home with her partner, parents and son on his very first Christmas, and she needs our help. Please help us help Michaela, as she has helped so many.

The funds from this campaign will go to offset her medical expenses, and ensure that her family has what they need through her recovery.
