   My name is Mia Williamson, thank you for taking the time to read my story. 

   On April 2nd, 2025, the medication, Misoprostol, I had received to pass my missed miscarriage caused me to bleed out severely. After being rushed to the hospital, I went into cardiac arrest 3 times. Due to the severe amount of blood I lost, I went into D.I.C., which caused bleeding in multiple organs. In order to control the bleeding the doctors had to stop doing cpr and began a DNC to remove the placenta. 

After my surgery and being resuscitated , I was transported to the ICU and deemed the sickest in Kansas City. For 2-3 weeks I was in a medically induced coma with no recollection of the time, I can only recall terrible dreams that felt like real life due to the narcotics being used. After eventually waking up, I began the long journey of recovering, from learning how to sit up, walk, talk, eat, basically relearning everything we are taught since birth. 

I was hospitalized from April 2nd, 2025, and released to go home on May 8th, 2025. That hospital bill alone was $377,000; this does not include the hospital bill my temporary Medicaid was supposed to cover for my pregnancy. Medicaid did not end up covering it because my sonogram showed that I had already miscarried during those appointments. I also have multiple hospital bills after my hospitalization because of weekly visits for every organ in my body, as well as physical and mental therapy.

I have no insurance, I was denied Medicaid multiple times. First because I was unable to show proof of income (due to my hospitalization and sedation). Now that I am able to show proof of income, they are still denying me even though I have given them everything they have asked for.
