<div>In December 2021, Melissa Acheson's life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Since then, she has shown incredible strength, enduring 47 rounds of chemotherapy in her battle against this relentless disease.

<div>However, despite her courage and perseverance, the chemo is no longer effective, and Melissa now faces the daunting challenge of seeking alternative treatments. Unfortunately, these new treatments are not covered under OHIP yet, and may even require her to travel to Toronto, adding further financial strain to an already difficult situation.

<div>A long time member of Ottawa's Health Food Industry, Melissa's primary focus has always been her son, Levi, who is now 13 years old and is preparing to start high school in September 2024.

<div>Adding to the family's hardships, Levi's father, Shawn Hill, a former chef and well-known member of the city's music scene, suffered a traumatic brain injury in August 2018 and now resides in a care facility. Melissa has been juggling the responsibilities of caring for her son and supporting Shawn while battling cancer herself.

<div>This GoFundMe campaign aims to alleviate some of the financial burden weighing on Melissa's shoulders. The funds raised will go towards covering the costs of her ongoing treatments. Additionally, the funds not used for treatment will be allocated to establishing an education fund for Levi, ensuring that he has the opportunity to pursue his dreams and aspirations (currently of becoming a Veterinarian) despite the challenges the family is facing.
