<div>Melinda has faced a lifetime of challenges due to rare congenital heart defects—TAPVR (Total anomalous pulmonary venous return) and HRHS (Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome). These conditions have required multiple open-heart surgeries and cardiac catheterizations throughout her childhood, each one a testament to her resilience and determination. Now, Melinda is preparing for the next major step in her journey: a dual heart and liver transplant. She is currently undergoing evaluations at Mass General Hospital, with one final assessment left before she knows if she will be placed on the transplant list. The process is filled with uncertainty, but Melinda continues to manage daily life independently, holding onto hope for healing and a brighter future.
