<div>I started working at Brooklyn Belle Market shortly after the store opened and during a very difficult time in my life. My kids and I had just moved to Morehead and survived the first year after the loss of my husband/their dad. I’ll never forget the day, sitting at a basketball game for our kids. I barely knew anyone but Megan’s daughter and mine had become friends at school so I was sitting with her and a few other moms. Small talk and being a stay at home mom led to me saying I wish I had a part time job. Megan quickly said she could use someone 2 days a week at the store. To make a long story short those two days a week turned into nearly full time and quickly my life was on Cranston. Best friends, the community, a Cranston transplant, somehow I had found my place again.

<div>Since working for Megan, I have seen and been a part of so many selfless acts. Covid hit within the first year of her opening. Obviously a business doesn’t make much profit within the first year but that didn’t matter, she offered free meals to kids who were now out of school, no questions asked. She has every year organized a free community holiday dinner. With donations from the community as well, it was always a great success providing meals and presents/treats for the kids. Trunk or treat events at Halloween. Free fireworks for the 4th of July. One Christmas instead of having a crew party, she and my coworkers bought presents for my mom who is in a nursing home. I had to miss work when my mom was very sick in the hospital, she sent money to me to stay in a hotel nearby. I didn’t ask, she just did it because she wanted to help. She put up a blessing box to help the community, a pay it forward board for people down on their luck. Community parades, donations to schools, sports, and fundraisers. Providing meals to people who have lost loved ones. Free back to school “yard sale” The list is really too much to list. Even when she is struggling herself, she does anything she can to help someone in need.

<div>Now she needs our help. It’s no secret that sales have slowed this year everywhere. Prices are up and Sales are down everywhere. There are so many behind the scenes things that no one thinks about that bring financial stress as well. Major building repairs needing done. She just needs a little community help to continue helping the community.

<div>I come asking for that help. Not only for her but selfishly so I can continue to be a part of this community as well. She is doing everything in her power to keep this little country store that has became family going. Let’s give her a little help getting there!
