<div>Hello, I’m Michael, a volunteer with the Mthunzi Centre, a nonprofit organization in Zambia that operates an orphanage and daycare center called Mthunzi Mufana. This center provides essential care, education, and shelter to around 75 street children who cannot attend school because their families can’t afford basic requirements like uniforms and books. Without access to education, these children face limited job prospects and an uncertain future.

</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Founded in 2021 in Lusaka’s slums, Mthunzi Mufana was created to inspire out-of-school children to re-enter education, with guidance from dedicated social workers and teachers. The center was initially funded as part of a three-year EU project (2021-2023), but that funding has now ended. This has left the center in critical need of financial support to continue its care for these vulnerable children. Since EU funding ceased, only one social worker remains, meals have been suspended, and the teacher had to be let go.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Current Situation</strong>
</div>
<div>With limited funds, Mthunzi Mufana is operating on a bare minimum. Currently:
</div>
<div>•	Only one social worker is available to oversee all 75 children.
</div>
<div>•	No teacher is on staff.
</div>
<div>•	No daily meals are provided.
</div>
<div>•	The center is open from 9 a.m. to noon, leaving the children unsupervised for most of the day.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This minimal operation greatly restricts our ability to reintegrate the children into the education system, which is the primary goal of the center.
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>Immediate Needs for Mthunzi Mufana</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>Priority 1: Teachers</strong>
</div>
<div>To help these 75 street children return to the school system, we urgently need teachers:
</div>
<ul>
<li>Teacher Salaries: Each trained teacher earns approximately €105 per month, plus an annual bonus of €316, totaling €1,579 per year. <strong>Hiring two teachers (for primary and secondary levels) would cost €3,158 annually.</strong>
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Priority 2: Meals</strong>
</div>
<div>Once we secure funds for teachers, our next goal is to provide one nutritious meal daily to support the children’s full-day attendance:
</div>
<div>-	Meal Costs: Each meal costs approximately €0.30 per child. For one meal per day for 75 children over 301 open days, this adds up to €6,733 annually.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With funding for teachers and daily meals, the children could stay at the center until 4:30 p.m., creating a supportive, safe environment that encourages them to stay in school and work toward a brighter future.

<div><strong>About the Organization</strong>
</div>
<div>Mthunzi Mufana is part of the Mthunzi Centre, a nonprofit that has been active in Zambia since 2000. The organization’s mission is to provide vulnerable children with homes, daily meals, and access to education. Around 15 staff members work with the Mthunzi Centre in Zambia, including social workers, teachers, cooks, and administrators—many of whom are former residents of the Mthunzi Centre.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Existing Funding</strong>
</div>
<div>The Mthunzi Centre and Mthunzi Mufana currently receive funding solely from an Italian organization called <a href="https://amaniforafrica.it/cosa-facciamo/mthunzi-centre/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Amani for Africa</a>, which covers the operational costs of the orphanage (around €75,000 per year). Unfortunately, this budget does not extend to the Mthunzi Mufana day center.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Since the Mthunzi Centre has no dedicated fundraising or social media expertise, I’ve launched this campaign to gather support. I will also promote the project on international fundraising platforms to increase visibility and help reach our funding goal.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Fund Collection Disclaimer</strong>
</div>
<div>Please note that GoFundMe does not currently support organizations based in Zambia. As a volunteer with a European bank account, I am collecting donations on behalf of the Mthunzi Centre and will transfer the full amount directly to the organization.
</div>
<div>In the event that funding goals are not fully met, all donations will still be sent to the Mthunzi Centre and allocated to best support the needs of the children.

<div><strong>DEUTSCH</strong>
</div>
<div>Hallo!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div>Aktuelle Situation
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<ul>
</li>
<li>Es ist kein Lehrer mehr angestellt.
</li>
</li>
</li>
</ul>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Was braucht Mthunzi Mufana nun?</strong>
</div>
<div><strong>Priorität 1: Lehrer</strong>
</div>
</div>
<ul>
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Priorität 2: Mahlzeiten</strong>
</div>
</div>
<ul>
</li>
</ul>
<div><br />
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>(Währungskurs: 1 € = 28,5 Sambische Kwacha)
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Über die Organisation</strong>
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Bestehende Finanzierung</strong>
</div>
</div>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Hinweis zur Spendenüberweisung</strong>
</div>
</div>
