Update:
As of November 8 Maya has been hospitalized for a year. A year of fighting for her life. A year of really no true answers of what her future may look like. But amidst the darkness and unknown, Maya remains grounded in her faith that she will heal. Please consider donating what you can to support Maya and her family as she transitions from hospital to home. The goal of this fundraiser has always been to take the financial burden off her family, especially now as her family will be her main caregivers. Your generosity ensures Maya gets the care she needs on her path to healing.
Update:
Maya has been hospitalized for 108 days. She has exhausted her 12 weeks of FMLA but mom has filed for ADA to secure her job. We should have an answer on that soon. Her doctor is recommending she be off work through Feb 1, 2026. Mom is looking into short term disability also but at this point Maya is not receiving a paycheck or any state assistance or state healthcare. Please consider donating to get Maya back on her feet again.
Our sweet Maya was unexpectedly hospitalized November 9 for a rare, life threatening skin syndrome called Stevens-Johnson Syndrome. This has rapidly progressed to a more serious form of the syndrome called TEN. She is currently in critical condition at Detroit Receiving Hospital where a long road to healing and recovery is anticipated. This fund has been started to take the financial burden off Maya and her family.
