<div>Meet Max the kitten. AKA "Mini-Max" and (occasionally) "Mad Max". I met Max in the town square in Ixamal, where he was trying to avoid traffic and kids who thought it was funny to throw things at him. I scooped him up, took him back to Merida, and found a vet, who said he was healthy but too tiny/young to travel -- about 395 grams and at most 5 weeks old. Now he's old enough to get his shots and travel to his new home, complete with snow (!!) outside the windows and two feline siblings.  But as the high season has rolled in, the costs of getting to/from Mexico have climbed. I've been covering his foster care costs and his vet expenses but would be very grateful for any help covering the airfare for the kind person who's making an overnight trip down to retrieve Max. (My mobility issues have gotten worse, making it tough for me to tackle a trip with a kitten.)

<div>Max is a smart kitten -- he learned how to purr in only an hour or so, how to use a litter box in less than 12 hours and how to play with his first toys in less than 24 hours. While he also has learned how to wreak havoc on the chairs at his foster home (sigh), I'm looking forward to welcoming him to a fur-ever (ouch, apologies for the bad pun) home.
