<div>My name is Karina, I am Sienna and Christopher Pollucci’s mom. I created this GoFundMe page along with the other loving parents of Max's friends - to support him through this challenging journey.

<div>Max C, was recently diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML.) Leukemia causes an increase in the production of immature white blood cells with neoplastic characteristics, which lead to bone marrow infiltration.

<div>We received some encouraging news today. Max's latest test results confirmed that he has APML, a subtype of AML. The current Leukemia DID NOT spread to his bone marrow, spine or Brain Fluid . Until now, they had been treating him for AML while waiting for all the results. The cure rate for AML is typically 65-80%, with the possibility of being back in the hospital….For APML, it’s 95%, with slight chance of being back in the hospital to hopefully never being back again.….. which gives us a lot of hope.

<div>Today, they started him on a new 28-day chemo treatment cycle specifically targeting APML. Some treatment through the Broviac and others in pill form. Depending on how his body responds, there’s a chance that in the future, he could continue his chemotherapy from home, only needing to visit the clinic for infusions. However, the doctors believe he’ll be in the hospital for at least another three/four weeks.

<div>There are more side effects with this treatment, and he’s already beginning to feel them. There’s also a higher risk of bleeding, which they have to monitor closely. The good news is that there’s a strong possibility we won’t even need to discuss a bone marrow transplant. Max is in good spirits, he’s eating regularly and drinking. #TeamMax
