<div>El pasado Junio 22, 2024, nuestro amigo <strong>Max Choc</strong>, originario de Guatemala de tan solo 33 años de edad, sufrió una caída mientras trabajaba en el roofing. Ahora se encuentra en muy mal estado, ya que se lastimó el cuello, se quebró los brazos y la columna vertebral; debido a esto perdió la sensibilidad en los pies. Llegando al hospital le hicieron una traqueotomía para que pudiera respirar, ya que toda la parte del cuello estaba bastante inflamada que no le permití respirar. Se atendió en la ciudad de Columbia MO en University Hospital ya que allá fue donde laboraba ese día. Despues de un mes ahora a sido movido a RUSK Rehabilitation Hospital localizado igual en Columbia MO donde se le realizarán terapias para que poco a poco salga adelante. Max solo cuenta con su papá aquí en St Louis y le cuesta mucho el poder ir a visitarlo y cuidar de él ya que él no sabe manejar y es una persona ya mayor. Él tiene una esposa y 5 hijos a quien mantener en su país, donde desde hace casi ya un mes y los que faltan él no podrá proveer para ellos.

<div>On June 22, 2024 our friend Max Choc, from Guatemala, suffered a severe accident at work. While working as a roofer in Columbia MO he fell from a second floor. He broke both arms, and incurred a severe spinal cord injury. This has left him unable to work and provide for his wife and five children. We are reaching out to our community for support to help Max through this challenging time. The staff at MU Hospital has been incredibly helpful and he is now starting an intense therapy recovery at RUSK Rehabilitation Hospital located in Columbia MO. The only family member he has in Saint Louis MO is his father. It's been really hard for the father to come visit and take care of him as he is 2 hours away and he doesn't know how to drive. His primary language is  Qʼeqchiʼ, but he can communicate in broken Spanish as well. It is expected that Max will be in the hospital for at least 2-3 more months. Any help will be greatly appreciated. All the funds collected will go to him and his family as he was the primary provider for them.
