I love being a member of this community. We constantly show resilience and support for our neighbors and friends! I am starting this gofundme for a friend who is an extremely hard worker, great father and loving husband. Max Valdez has two sons at Santa ynez High School. He was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and is unable to work for the next 3 months. Below is a message from his son Angel who is a student at the high school.
"My name is Angel and I am a high school student at Santa Ynez High School. My father Max came to the United States from Mexico in 1985 at the age of 19. He decided there were more economic opportunities in the United States, so he came to this country and became a legal permanent resident. He worked and lived on horse ranches but eventually settled into a steady job as a landscape gardener 22 years ago. He is a very hardworking man and has supported my family, including my older brother who is almost done with college at UC Berkeley. He and my mother have never taken government assistance, since my father’s hard work was always enough to support us, but now my father’s worsening Parkinson’s disease has made it hard for him to work. His doctor has told him that he will need to be temporarily disabled so that with a steady regimen of medication, he can get his disease under control and continue to work. That is why we are asking for financial help, so that my father can take 3 months of rest to help control his disease, and we will be able to make do without his income until he is healthy enough to continue working."
