<div>Hello, my name is Joe Schmitz. I am setting up this GoFundMe to help my aunt, <strong>Mary Amborn</strong>. Mary experienced a medical event on 9/11 after finishing her bus route in the morning. She experienced some confusion in the thick fog that morning and wasn’t feeling the best. Her employer picked her up and brought her to the clinic, and from there, she was transported to the Buffalo ER by ambulance.

<div>She was placed in ICU shortly after. A stroke and some more common issues were ruled out. It was discovered that she had a viral meningitis infection. Her symptoms worsened. Mary’s health team expressed on Saturday that she was finally moving in the right direction. Late Saturday night, early Sunday, Mary developed another complication. Abbott Northwest was consulted, and it was thought she needed more care and was transferred to the cities. My cousin said that she had been able to give her husband’s hand a squeeze before transferring there. The latest report is that the new complication is under control. The care team down there felt it was appropriate to put a breathing tube in to aid Mary’s body in the fight against the infection.

<div>If you’ve ever had the privilege of being around my aunt, you would have experienced the most generous, humble, genuine person there is. There are not enough words to clearly express the love she has for others.

<div><strong>Mary is the sole provider for her and Eugene.</strong> She juggles being his primary caregiver, Kwik Trip employee, an amazing bus driver, and grandma duties. These funds will be used to help with Mary’s medical bills, lost income, and expenses of her recovery. There will be a banking account set up at First National of Cokato for those who wish to give directly, checks need to be made out to Joe Schmitz with Mary Amborn in the Memo.
