Hi everyone - I'm raising money for my cat Marshall to get a femoral head ostectomy (FHO surgery).
The other night before I went to sleep, Marshall was acting completely fine. When I woke up the next morning, I noticed Marshall didn't run to his food bowl when I filled it like he normally does. I thought maybe he had a tummy ache, so I went to go pick him up to bring him to his food bowl. When I tried, he made a distress sounding meow as if he was in pain. Not too long after, one of my other animals startled him. Because of this, he got up and tried to move, and this is what I noticed that he was putting no pressure on his hind leg. I took him to the vet, and we discovered that he broke his femur at the hip joint - hence the need for the FHO surgery.
The vet recommended either the FHO surgery, or amputation. Marshall is only a year and a half old, so amputating his leg just seemed like such a severe option. Plus, the amputation surgery estimate was about $30 more than the FHO surgery estimate.
I called several different vets in the area to get quotes as well. They all said that their amputation surgery and FHO surgery estimates were very similar in cost. I ended up going with Marina animal clinic because not only did they have the best price, but they're also Marshalls primary vet anyway and a vet office that I trust.
Marshalls initial vet visit to get the x-ray and diagnosis was already nearly $300. After that, and the other bills I've had this paycheck, I'm only able to cover about $500 of his surgery.
Marshall is such a a sweet, loving kitty. I want nothing more than for him to no longer be in pain, and would appreciate any and all donations to be able to get his surgery done this Wednesday so that he doesn't have to wait any longer.
Thank you in advance to everyone who read, shared, or donated to Marshall's surgery. ❤️
