<div><strong>Junio de 2025:</strong> Después de sentir fatiga y dolores de cabeza, e inicialmente atribuyendo esos síntomas al agotamiento por el calor, nuestra querida Mariel Fraire comenzó a experimentar síntomas más preocupantes. Su esposo, Eddie, la llevó al médico donde le recomendaron que fuera a la sala de emergencias. Una vez allí, la evaluaron y le tomaron los signos vitales, pero debido al dolor que sentía y a evidente inflamación alrededor de la parte superior del hombro izquierdo, el cuello y el brazo, el personal médico no pudo realizar más pruebas. La enviaron a casa con analgésicos, le dijeron que se hidratara y que reposara. En las siguientes semanas, la intensidad de su dolor y malestar no disminuyó. Estaba postrada en cama. La medicación recetada no le ayudaba. Sus síntomas no mejoraban. Acudió a una cita médica de seguimiento. Una vez más, debido a la inflamación, le dijeron que no se podían realizar más pruebas; esta vez, sin embargo, el médico dio a entender que sus síntomas solían estar asociados con el cáncer. Esta noticia devastó a su esposo y a todos sus seres queridos, incluyendo su estimada familia de la iglesia - sus hermanos en la fe.

<div><strong>Julio de 2025:</strong> Después de semanas de dolor y malestar, fue a otra cita de seguimiento donde le dieron la noticia de que era cáncer de mama agresivo - Etapa 3. Durante una de estas citas médicas, a fines de julio (días antes de su cumpleaños,) el equipo medico recomendó que fuera ingresada al hospital de inmediato. Le realizaron imágenes del pecho y la cabeza debido a unos dolores de cabeza extremos e incesantes; temían que las células del cáncer de mama pudieran estar alterando el funcionamiento normal del hígado. Hace un par de días le informaron que el cáncer no ha afectado a su hígado. ¡Dios es grande! Los médicos también dieron la orden para que la llevaran a oncología para iniciar el tratamiento de quimioterapia.

<div><strong>Agosto de 2025:</strong> El cáncer de mama es una experiencia diferente para cada persona. En el caso de Mariel, este también le está afectando sus ganglios linfáticos. Mientras tanto, la inflamación no ha mejorado y el dolor no ha disminuido. La hospitalización sigue siendo necesaria para que el equipo médico pueda mantenerla bajo observación, brindarle un poco de alivio - Con la ayuda de medicamentos y al mantener sus signos vitales bajo control. Aún no está claro cual será el tratamiento de ella en los próximos días/semanas o meses, ni el tiempo que requerirá tratar el cáncer.

<div><strong><em>Donation &amp; prayer request for the care, treatment, wellness and recovery of our beloved Mariel Fraire - Diagnosed with Stage 3 Aggressive Breast Cancer. </em></strong>

<div><strong><em>June 2025:</em></strong><em> After experiencing fatigue and headaches, and initially attributing those symptoms to heat-exhaustion, our dear Mariel Fraire began to experience more worrisome symptoms. Her husband, Eduardo (Eddie), took her the doctor where it was recommended that she head over to the ER instead. Once there, she was assessed and her vitals were taken, but due to the pain she was experiencing and the evident swelling around her upper left shoulder, neck and arm, the medical staff was not able to perform further testing. She was sent home with pain medication, told to stay hydrated and to get plenty of rest. In the weeks that followed, the intensity of her pain and discomfort did not decrease. She was bedridden. The prescribed medication was not helping. Her symptoms did not improve. She went to for a follow-up medical appointment. Again, due to the swelling, she was told that further testing could not be performed; this time, however, the doctor's implied that her symptoms are often associated with cancer. This news devastated her husband and all her loved ones; including her esteemed, close-knit, church family. </em>

<div><strong><em>July 2025: </em></strong><em>After weeks of pain and discomfort, she went for another follow up appointment where she was given the news that it was Stage 3 Aggressive Breast cancer. While at one of these medical appointments toward the end of July (Just days before her birthday,) the medical team recommended that she should be admitted to the hospital immediately. She was taken to get imaging of her chest and head due to extreme, non-stop headaches; they feared that the breast cancer cells could be disrupting the normal function of the liver. Several days ago she was told that the cancer has not affected her liver. God is great! Doctors also signed-off so that she would be taken to oncology to initiate chemotherapy treatment. </em>

<div><strong><em>August 2025:</em></strong><em> Breast cancer is a different experience for everyone. Mariel's cancer is also affecting her lymph nodes. Through it all, the swelling has not improved and the pain has not subsided. Hospitalization is still needed so that the medical care team can monitor and provide some relief with the help of medication and constant monitoring of her vitals. It is still not clear as to what the treatment will look like in the coming days/weeks or months or the length of time it will require to treat the cancer. </em>

<div><em>Throughout this time, and from the moment Mariel fell ill, her husband, Eddie, has not left her side. As her sole caregiver and provider, he has not been able to return to work. Unfortunately, without any family medical leave benefits or leave of absence pay, this unexpected hardship is proving to be particularly challenging for the Fraire family. The sudden diagnosis of his wife of 25 years has threatened to put a dent in their livelihood. Financially, this is a very difficult time; which is why we are using this venue to reach out and ask for help... </em>
