Support Marcus Whelan and his family

Donation protected

Dear Family, Friends and Community,

On 31st January 2021 Marcus was enjoying time away with his family and friends when he was involved in a water skiing accident that incidentally ended up saving his life. After ascertaining that he had not damaged his spine or had internal bleeding, the doctors made what they call an ”incidental finding”. Marcus had broken his leg and ankle in two places but the doctors discovered a large mass that they were sure was brain cancer. The Neurosurgeon concluded it was a slow growing tumour but very invasive and in his speech centre. Marcus had brain surgery on May 25th where 70% of the tumour was removed. The surgeon was unable to remove any more of the tumour for fear of permanent damage. The battle for Marcus will be ongoing , with chemo and radiation treatment a necessity long term if the tumour continues to grow.

Marcus had a setback recently and suffered his first seizure.

Anyone who has had the fortune of knowing Marcus is aware of his big heart and generosity. He is always there to help others with his huge smile and zest for life. He is a great supporter of children's sport including basketball and Auskick, often volunteering at his children’s school events.

I have offered to setup this Go Fund Me for Marcus and his family because during such difficult times where recovery and uncertainty is prevalent, financial burdens should be the last thing they need to consider. If you are like me and have been unsure how you could support the Whelan family, please make a contribution to show your support and consideration for them during this long road to recovery.

Many thanks to you all and I know Marcus and Megan will be humbled by your support.
