Hello, my name is Marcia Ferguson, a 28-year-old mother with 2 boys. I was diagnosed with a rare eye disease called keratoconus at the age of 19. Over the years, my eye condition has gotten worse. I'm at the stage that I lost sight in my left eye and I have to have an eye transplant done.
Keratoconus (ker-uh-toe-KOH-nus) is an eye condition in which the clear, dome-shaped front of the eye, called the cornea, gets thinner, steeper, and bulges outward into a cone shape. A cone-shaped cornea causes blurred vision and may cause sensitivity to light and glare.
