<div><strong>Every $1 donated is worth $3 (prevents $2 being owed after December 24th) - if this gets funded before December 24th, it will prevent a $2700 increase in loan payments owed!</strong>

<div>We are raising funds for a community member from Big Mountain living on lands under corporate seige (the so called HPL) . These funds will go toward making the final payments needed to ensure he is able to keep his truck and not go further in to debt.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He has an opportunity to make an early purchase on the vehicle by paying off the remainder of his auto loan, which is mostly paid off already. <strong>To do this, he needs $1,300 prior to December 24th. If he is unable to pay by this date, the loan picks up the accrued interest and will be raised an additional $2700 to $4000 owed.</strong>

<div>This truck is used to support and maintain the homesite of a multi-generational family of relocation resisters where he lives. The homesite is 50 miles from the nearest town, far along an unkept rocky dirt roads where high clearance is mandatory. Food, water, firewood and other resources are all hauled in to maintain life at the homesite - for folks at big mountain, access to a truck is an essential survival tool.

<div>Why Does This Matter?
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Elders and families of Big Mountain / Black Mesa continue to sustain their traditional Diné life ways in the face of the devastating effects of colonial land theft and coal mining. The <strong>1974 Navajo-Hopi Land Settlement Act</strong> redrew the boundaries of the Hopi and Navajo Reservations, which <strong>displaced hundreds of Hopi and 10,000 - 15,000 Diné.</strong> These borders reflected the colonial government’s collusion with corporate interests focused on massive resource extraction.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>However, hundreds of families refused to leave their ancestral lands, which span 900,000 acres and 20 Diné communities. Nearly 50 years later, the coal mines are defunct, but the pressure to relocate remains. These pressures include livestock restrictions, threats and intimidation from law enforcement and government agencies, lack of running water and impacts of climate change.
