Hi! We are Andrea Savage and Eva Ferrao. We are both Visual Communications Design students at the University of Notre Dame. We are involved in a Social Design course with the goal of mitigating gun violence within the South Bend community. We are collaborating with Mamas Against Violence to create a campaign to promote their cause.
Mamas Against Violence (MAV) is a non-profit organization. The organization was founded in 2003, after an alarming increase of lives lost to homicides. MAV’s mission is to offer emotional support, encouragement, and prayer to mothers and anyone else who has been affected by gun violence. Mamas Against Violence works within the community, with youth, families, businesses, law enforcement, schools, churches, and other organizations to raise awareness and promote prevention against violence.
We support MAV’s belief that with unity we can save our community and that each individual has an obligation to work to prevent lives being lost. As our contribution, we have elected to work with MAV for our social design class project. In order to make this project successful, we need your support. We have created this GoFundMe account that allows everyone to contribute to making a difference and saving lives in the South Bend community.
The funds raised will be used to build Mamas Against Violence a website that will offer an opportunity to learn more about MAV and what support may be available to anyone who has experienced a loss of a loved one. Our goal is to raise enough funds to keep the website live for up to 10 years, as well as provide free silk screened t-shirts for their next march, a silk screen machine so MAV can continue silk screening the shirts once we’ve graduated, stickers, and posters to promote the walk. All of these items will feature new branding for MAV, a project we’ve spent our semester designing.
On May 12th, Mamas Against Violence will sponsor their 15th annual walk against violence and remembrance celebration. Free MAV t-shirts and stickers will be available for those who participate in the walk. We would appreciate your support for this important event, and organization, through your generous donations.
