<div>On November 16th, Mady had some unexpected complications from a planned surgery she had three weeks prior.
</div>
<div>She had gotten an infection behind her spinal cord that went undetected for a number of days, and ultimately, she went unresponsive and had to be taken by ambulance to CMH and then transported to OHSU in Portland.
</div>
<div>Mady had multiple surgeries to locate and flush out the infection. During her ICU stay, Mady had three surgeries, bacterial meningitis, sepsis, staph A, and infected fluid in her brain, which required multiple drains to be put in. After three long days in a coma and two weeks in the ICU, Mady is now home and on the long road towards recovery.

<div><strong>Mady's hospital stay racked up a large amount of unexpected out-of-pocket medical bills</strong>, and she will have a lot more expenses going forward for her rehabilitation, physical therapy, and in-home nurse care, much of which is out of pocket. Mady will also be on IV antibiotics for an estimate of 6 weeks as a part of her in home care which is almost entirely out of pocket for her, and a large expense.

<div><strong>Taking some of the financial burden off of Mady during this time will keep her mind and goals focused on healing and taking care of herself instead of finances or any other stress.</strong>
