I’m reaching out to ask for your support for an incredible young woman, Madison, who dedicates her days caring for children at our local daycare right here in Traverse City.

In March of this year, Madison purchased a car, but unfortunately it broke down and needs a new engine—a repair that will cost over $8,000. While she has been able to save a little for this enormous repair, she is still making payments on her car and trying to pay every day bills and expenses. The financial burden has taken a tremendous toll.

In the meantime, she relies on the BATA bus to commute all the way from Kingsley to Traverse City for her shifts. Living in a very rural community, this often means being picked up 2-3 hours before her workday begins and waiting late into the evening to get a ride home. Some days, she spends 12-14 hours at the daycare center, not because of her work schedule, but because of her limited transportation options.

When we realized her situation, my family loaned her an older car in October, but it is now also in the shop for an extended repair, leaving her again without transportation as winter sets in. She is again relying on the BATA bus and friends for transportation.

Madison is a kind, caring, and a dedicated childcare provider for so many families, and we want to help ease her burden by getting her car back on the road. Reliable transportation would be life-changing for Madison, allowing her to get to work, run errands, and live more freely.
