Hi, my name is Kristy and I am desperately asking for help with saving Luna's life.

I have had Luna in my life since college, she was my first born fur baby. My first pet responsibility as an adult. She is attached to me at the hip, as I am with her. I am willing to do whatever it takes to ensure she lives a long and full, healthy life.

Over Labor Day weekend, on August 31st, 2025, I noticed blood where she was lying. When she got up, I was horrified to discover what I believed to be an anal prolapse. I rushed her to the Urgent Care vet that day to have her looked at. The first vet believed it to be a prolapse of her anal gland. They expressed the glands that day and sent us home with antibiotics, anti-inflammatory, and pain medicine. While giving the medicines to Luna was a struggle every single day (I am covered in scratches and bites), I did my due diligence to ensure all her meds were administered. On the following Tuesday, September 2nd, I had to take her back to the vet due to constant diarrhea and blood in her stool. On this day they did a general exam and prescribed her a probiotic to balance her gut flora and settle her stomach to what they believed was a GI upset from the medications. Throughout the week, diarrhea persisted but she seemed to be eating fine and recovering with no more prolapsed anal gland. Fast forward to the night of September 7th, she finally had a more solidified bowel movement but unfortunately that caused the prolapse to resurface. I rushed her back to the vet today, September 8th to get a third vet opinion.

The somehwat confirmed diagnosis is a mass in her rectum. At this time, we do not know if the mass is benign or cancerous. Blood work was taken today and I have to collect a stool and urine sample to take back. The vet has referred her to Nashville Vetenery Specialists + Hospital in Nashville, TN. Her next appointment for a thorough anal exam and consultation for surgery to remove the mass is on Tuesday, September 16th. From there we will discover the safety, risks, requirements, and finances to have her put under anesthesia for the removal of the mass.

Even with not being certain whether the mass is cancerous or not, I still want this mass removed ASAP so she can finally begin to feel better and have a normal bowel movement.

I want to save her life. I am willing to fight as hard as I can to save her and ensure a longer, happy life. She may be 11 years old, but I just know she has a whole lot more life in her and more love to give. Currently, with the past 3 vet visits and the upcoming consultation at the animal hospital, I am already up to $1,000 in debt. The general vet has informed me that the animal hospital surgery will not be cheap, and I could be looking at thousands of more dollars just to have the mass removed so she can begin healing.

I have never asked for handouts or help in my life, but with this precious girl I am desperate to save her life and ensure quality of life, but the funds are sadly diminishing and I am in enough debt as it is. I have pulled from savings and used 2 credit cards just so far.
