Hello, my name is Maria, I am the owner of Luna, a 2 year old Schnauzer. Luna was diagnosed with epilepsy on April 15th, 2024. My husband and I took her to Verg because we didn't know what to do since Luna's mother also died of epileptic seizures when Luna was 5 months old. We didn't even know that she had inherited this condition since her mother was always healthy until after she had her puppies. We took Luna to the same vet that her mother took her to, but in these almost 8 months the medicine she takes is not working, that's why we changed vets and he advised us that the best thing we can do is an MRI and a cerebrospinal centesis to know exactly her diagnosis. Her new vet told us that she should have at least one to two seizures a month, but Luna has 7 to 9 seizures twice a month. Luna takes Levetiracetam 100MG three times a day and Phenobarbital 32.4 MG twice a day, this is why her vet says that it is too much medicine to have so many attacks and not get better. This is the reason we are looking for help to know exactly her diagnosis, we hope to have her with us many more years without suffering so much. Mia, my 9 year old daughter, loves her too much, just like us and we wouldn't know what to do without her since she has already taught us so many things.
Please help us diagnose Luna. Thank you.
