Hi, my name is Cherene and I am the founder of Lunar Eclipse. After being assaulted whilst working in the NHS, I was left with life-changing injuries and had to step away from the career I loved. It was a devastating time, but through the pain I held onto two things – my lifelong love of horses and my desire to keep helping people.
The horses became my therapy, my safe place, and the reason I found the strength to keep going. They gave me back hope when I needed it most. I knew then that I wanted to create something that would allow others to feel the same – comfort, courage, and connection – through these incredible animals.
That dream became Lunar Eclipse, and today our herd of therapy horses – the Hoofgang™ – bring comfort and connection to people of all ages. From children with additional support needs, to people living with dementia, to those experiencing loneliness or everyday stresses, our miniature horses quietly work their magic. They don’t just visit – they help people find their voice, spark memories, and remind us all that joy can be found in the simplest of moments.
All of our work is non-ridden and fully inclusive. At Lunar Eclipse we are passionate about making the equestrian world accessible to all, breaking down barriers so everyone has the chance to experience the calm, joy, and confidence that comes from being with horses.
We are a not-for-profit CIC (Community Interest Company) – every penny is reinvested into our herd and the communities we serve. Our core team are fully trained Equine Facilitated Learning practitioners, and I am also an Equimotional coach. Together, we support children, families, schools, workplaces, hospitals, care homes, and community groups across the UK. We also provide one-to-one sessions for young people with additional support needs, giving them a safe space to grow in confidence and feel truly valued. We grant wishes where possible and doorstop visits.
Our incredible volunteers – NHS staff, police officers, a prison officer, a 9/11 paramedic, a lawyer, and a teacher – bring lived experience, compassion, and strength to everything we do. We are fully licensed by Stirling and Warrington Council, insured, and disclosure checked, so families and providers can be confident they are in safe hands.
We are now taking the next step in our journey. Our herd has moved to a new home in central Scotland, and we dream of transforming it into a Wellness Centre – a safe, welcoming place where children, families, and communities can come to experience the healing power of horses.
But the new home needs work before this dream can come to life. We urgently need to repair drainage, roofs, and guttering; rebuild arena fencing; create safe flooring and accessible areas for wheelchairs; and provide essentials like toilets, doors, and a small office where families can gather.
This isn’t about building something fancy – it’s about creating a place where people feel seen, valued, and supported. Somewhere our therapy horses can continue to bring smiles, comfort, and healing.
Every donation, no matter the size, takes us one step closer. Please help us create a Wellness Centre for all.
Follow us on social media, share our journey, and together we can build something truly magical – a place where hope lives, and healing happens one hoofbeat at a time.
