Lucy is a 16-year-old student with a bright future ahead of her. She is pursuing an IB Diploma, ranks at the very top of her class, and dreams of becoming an archaeologist. Lucy is such a beautiful girl with so many things left to accomplish in life. Now, Lucy and her family are facing something no young person should have to face: she has been diagnosed with a cancerous tumor in her spine. 
 
 
 Lucy will need cancer treatment that may last up to a year. During that time, her mother will be out of work so she can stay with Lucy in the hospital. That loss of income creates a serious strain for the family while they focus on Lucy’s care. 
 
 
 Lucy is one of four children, and her family is already balancing a great deal. One of her siblings has Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome, which requires a home nurse. With so many ongoing needs at home, the financial impact of a long treatment period will be especially difficult. 
 
 
 Even in the middle of this, Lucy is in good spirits and ready to fight with the hardworking, determined personality that has already carried her so far. This fundraiser is being organized on behalf of Lucy’s mother to help ease the family’s loss of income while she remains by Lucy’s side through treatment.
