Support Louie's Fight Against Pneumonia
Donation protected
Late Friday night, our sweet pup Louie was rushed to the intensive care unit with a severe case of pneumonia. He's been in an oxygen chamber ever since, battling this illness with the help of strong antibiotics, steroids, and countless other treatments.
For the past few days, Chelsea and I have been on an emotional rollercoaster, experiencing moments of hope followed by anxious setbacks. But today, Wednesday, brought a small miracle – after four long days, Louie finally ate something (a piece of bacon and bread!). While his breathing is still labored, this is a significant step forward, and we and the team of doctors are hopeful he might be able to come home to us this week.
Louie has been a cherished member of our family for ten wonderful years. He joined Mitch as a tiny eight-week-old puppy back in March 2015 and has been Mitch's steadfast companion through countless life milestones, moving across the country together and watching Mitch and Chelsea fall in love and get married. Chelsea came into Louie's life almost five years ago, and while not the biggest fan of dogs at the time, she quickly became a big fan of Lou and is now the best dog mom there is.
Unfortunately, the extensive care Louie has needed – the oxygen therapy, the medications, and the constant monitoring – has resulted in a staggering medical bill of nearly $15,000. I included the invoices in the images to highlight how expensive 5 days in the ICU have been. As we navigate the challenges of living on a single income while Chelsea navigates a difficult job market, this unexpected expense is a heavy burden we simply weren't prepared for.
We know that 2025 has been a tough year for many families, and it's not easy to ask for help. But our hearts are breaking at the thought of not being able to provide Louie with the best possible care due to this overwhelming financial strain.
If you are able to contribute anything at all to help us offset this massive medical debt and support Louie's continued recovery, we would be eternally grateful. Every single donation, no matter the size, will make a real difference towards Louie’s medical bills that we incurred over this past week.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your kindness and support during this incredibly challenging time.
