If you know me you know how hard this is for me to do. I hate asking for help. But being unable to goto work for the last few months has made this a necessity.
I was diagnosed 8 years ago with Breast Cancer and went thru the gammout of treatment - chemo, mastectomy, radiation and reconstruction. I was put on a maintenance pill and did follow ups with my oncologist. February 2023 I mentioned to her that I felt a pop when I coughed. She insisted on a bonescan. Surprisingly to us all it showed that the cancer had come back in 80% of my bones & in my liver. I have now gone thru a course of radiation and thru chemo every 3 weeks to keep my cancer levels in a normal range. My cancer is terminal and is not going to go away. We can only hope to keep it at bay and manage it thru radiation & chemo. Because of my bones being weak I have 3 fractures in my pelvis and 4 in my back. My tailbone has no casing left to it and walking more than a few feet is very difficult & painful. I use a walker or cane most days. Sometimes even a wheelchair.
Update - as of today's (9/17/24) appointment there is a spot on my liver that has grown in size 1.5 centimeter. But results from a liver biopsy last week show this is still Breast Cancer. So we changed up the chemo to me getting it once a week for 3 weeks then a week off. Hopefully this will be a milder chemo on me. The goal is still to hold the cancer at bay and get me on a maintenance pill instead of I.V.
