<div>Hi, this is Ted Stocking, Lindee Stockings father. As most of you know Lindee has been fighting illness' for about 2 years now with seemingly no doctors knowing what was causing her symptoms. They went back and forth between different cancers, different treatments and more tests than anyone could count. It was then we decided to go up to the Mayo Clinic where she was originally diagnosed with Hemochromatosis, a genetic disease that left untreated would do irreparable damage to her body, mainly her gastrointestinal organs, and in her case, her liver got hit the hardest.

<div>Coming back from Mayo her doctor had multiple arguments with the treatment team here in Omaha because they were not giving her the proper treatment. At that time (October of 2024) her liver doctor here said that her liver looked ok and there wasn't anything she could do until it got worse. From that point she decided to create an entirely new team of doctors at UNMC. At first it started the same, until she passed out this January while putting together her daughters birthday party due to very low blood counts/hemoglobin. Because of this, their father chose to take them full time so she could focus on her health.

<div>As the months went on she was in the hospital constantly. In March she almost died, and in May they told her she was in complete liver failure after another trip to the ER for her hemoglobin being low. She now receives transfusions every week or two to keep her blood levels semi stable.

<div>After 8 months of waiting for a new GI doctors - she finally saw one on June 11th. He looked at her and her labs and said we needed to act fast. They pushed up her testing to early July as we begin the process of a complete liver transplant. As of right now Lindee is homebound, barely able to move around on her own as she is having issues with walking, thinking clearly and sometimes speech as her body continues to fail.

<div>We are appreciative they moved her up so fast, but there are so many risks involved. The first risk, people at her stage have about a 12% chance of living until a liver can become available. God willing one does, but also brings obstacles. She will be hospitalized for 4-6 weeks, maybe longer to make sure the new liver isn't rejected. She will need to learn to walk again, eat again, and speak again. After that process she will go home to a "caregiver". Unfortunately I am too old to be able to do this for her and she won't receive a transplant without one. We are hopeful they will make an exception for an at home nurse for the next few months as she continues to recover and regain mobility. She will be on countless anti rejection meds the rest of her life along with numerous other medications - thats the somewhat easy part.

<div>Through this we are looking at around 1 year full recovery time, if she even survives or makes it through to the surgery. Obviously all of this cost money. Money I don't have nor does she. Money she will need for rent and utilities mainly as well as helping her 3 beautiful kids who have no idea what's really going on.

<div>As much as I am against it, and don't believe in it for her at this time because her kids need their mom, she is weighing the option of going on hospice depending on what the tests show. She doesn't want her children to see her struggle with no guarantee as what the outcome would be.

<div>Again, I am starting this go fund me under her name to keep up with rent, utilities and things she will need for her children going forward. Prayers are also welcome through this difficult time.

</div>

<div>Lindee has made the decision that if she should pass before the transplant to not have a funeral. I have a list of contacts to have a small memorial, but she doesn't want her kids going to another funeral. If you would like to be part of that please let me or her know in advance.
