Support Linda Rupe's Recovery

Donation protected
On November 10th, 2017, Linda Rupe traveled by plane from Sacramento, Ca, to New York to celebrate her sister Barbara’s 75th birthday along with their younger sister, Denise. There were plans for dinner and a show in New York City, but mostly Linda was excited just to share some special sister time.

Upon arriving at JFK airport, however, everything changed. Linda collapsed in the terminal and was rushed to a nearby hospital for highly specialized open-heart surgery to repair an aortic dissection – a tear in the major artery of the heart. By surviving long enough to reach the operating table, she had already beaten the odds, and after nearly 8 hours of surgery, the doctor informed her sisters that the surgery went well, but that the tear in her heart had caused a 100% blockage in her left carotid artery that resulted in a stroke. He made it clear that she was lucky to be alive and that her recovery would take time.

Faith and Hope
As Linda’s doctors worked to save her life in the operating room, four of her children immediately booked and boarded a flight from California to New York to be by their mother’s side.  They flew on faith and hope, not knowing if she would still be alive when they touched down in New York.  They were elated upon landing, to learn that she was still with them.

As the week progressed, Linda encountered several complications and it became clear that her recovery would take even more time than anticipated.  This would mean months before she would be strong enough to make the trip back home to California. In order to ensure that she would have continuous support through her recovery, her children made plans for weekly rotations so one of them would always be by her side. Seventeen days later, Linda is still recovering in ICU.

A Wonderful Woman
Linda Rupe has lived her life in service to others. She is known by many as one of the most generous and compassionate people on the planet, and has always been focused on the needs of those less fortunate. For decades, she devoted her energy and efforts specifically towards enriching the lives of developmentally challenged children and adults in her local communities.  By working directly with these individuals as an advocate, a service provider of positive recreational experiences, and by providing life skills coaching to promote personal empowerment, she has brought untold love and light into the lives of many people who might otherwise have been left behind.

Every Little Bit Helps
Linda could now use a bit of good will from others, and we are asking for your help.  All proceeds collected will be used to help to ensure that Linda has the resources necessary to fully facilitate her recovery both while in the hospital in New York, and once she returns back home.  Every little bit helps, and Linda’s New York and California families are sincerely thankful for your kindness and generosity through this challenging time.
