Help Ligia Recover from a Hemorrhagic Stroke and Prepare for Brain Surgery

Hi, my name is Dani, and I’m raising funds on behalf of my incredible mother, Ligia, who recently suffered a life-threatening hemorrhagic stroke on June 16th.

This sudden medical emergency completely changed our lives. Ligia spent about a week and a half in the hospital, receiving intensive care and monitoring. Thankfully, she was recently discharged and is now recovering at home — but her journey is far from over.

While hospitalized, doctors made an incidental finding: Ligia has an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) — a rare condition involving abnormal blood vessels in the brain. Although the AVM did not cause the stroke, it still poses a serious risk and will require brain surgery in the near future to prevent future complications.

In the meantime, Ligia urgently needs to begin physical, occupational, and speech therapy at a rehabilitation center to regain strength, coordination, and independence. These therapies are essential to her recovery, but the associated costs — along with medical bills, medications, home care needs, and her upcoming surgery — are overwhelming for our family.

Ayuda para la Recuperación de Ligia tras un Derrame Cerebral y Cirugía Cerebral

Hola, mi nombre es Dani, y estoy recaudando fondos en nombre de mi querida madre, Ligia, quien sufrió un derrame cerebral hemorrágico el 16 de junio.

Esta emergencia médica cambió nuestras vidas por completo. Ligia pasó aproximadamente una semana y media en el hospital, donde recibió atención intensiva y monitoreo constante. Gracias a Dios, ya fue dada de alta y se encuentra en casa, pero su camino hacia la recuperación aún continúa.

Durante su estancia en el hospital, los médicos descubrieron de forma incidental que Ligia tiene una malformación arteriovenosa (MAV) — una condición poco común en la que se forman vasos sanguíneos anormales en el cerebro. Aunque no fue la causa del derrame, representa un riesgo importante y Ligia necesitará una cirugía cerebral próximamente para prevenir futuras complicaciones.

Por ahora, Ligia necesita comenzar cuanto antes con terapia física, ocupacional y del habla en un centro de rehabilitación para recuperar su fuerza, movilidad e independencia. Estas terapias son esenciales para su recuperación, pero los costos —junto con las facturas médicas, medicamentos, cuidados en casa y la cirugía— son más de lo que nuestra familia puede afrontar sola.
