<div>Our hearts are heavy as we reach out to our community once again, asking for your kindness and support for our brave son, Liam. Liam, 13 years old, has been battling Epilepsy since September 2021. For almost four years, we’ve navigated a complex and often uncertain path, with periods where his seizures seemed managed, only to be met with unexpected setbacks.

<div>Until recently, Liam primarily experienced Absence Seizures, and his Neurology team at Cooper had hope that he would eventually outgrow his condition. This February, after numerous tests and medication adjustments, we received wonderful news: his Epilepsy was deemed stable enough for him to return to normal life, including his beloved sport, baseball. We were also thrilled for his planned return to public school for 8th grade this Fall, after years of homeschooling due to his ongoing health challenges.

<div>However, our world was shaken on April 2nd. Liam experienced a severe Tonic-Clonic seizure in his sleep, causing him to fall out of bed and sustain significant injuries. He was rushed to Jefferson by ambulance, where he endured further Tonic-Clonic seizures, requiring emergency medication. He was then transferred to Cooper Trauma, where he underwent plastic surgery for a detached eyelid, had his nose set and stitched in multiple places, and faced extensive testing, including bloodwork, a multi-day EEG, MRIs, and medication adjustments. Liam was in and out of consciousness for several days, and his recovery at home was lengthy, requiring intensive support as he regained his ability to walk and care for himself.

<div>Just this past week, Liam experienced another breakthrough seizure, reminding us of the ongoing battle. May 12th, the Neurology team informed us that because of his breakthrough, Liam is undergoing yet another medication adjustment and more tests, leading to a return to limited living. Sports, unsupervised outdoorplay, any unsupervised activities where injury could occur are now off-limits.

<div>Adding to our concerns, Liam’s recent MRI revealed further deterioration in his Hippocampus, which has worsened since his initial diagnosis. The Neurologists confirmed this is consistent with life-long Epilepsy, significantly reducing the chance of him outgrowing the seizures. They also sadly confirmed that Liam’s short-term memory issues, which have intensified with each seizure, are likely permanent. Despite these challenges, we are committed to his return to public school in the Fall. We believe it is vital for his mental well-being to be surrounded by peers and to live as full a life as possible.

<div>We are a single-income household; Liam’s father, Keith, is an IT Division Manager, and I am a stay-at-home mom to four children, currently pursuing my own studies to become a Child Psychiatrist. The mounting medical expenses are becoming an overwhelming burden. We are humbly seeking to raise $10,000 to cover:

<div>We understand that asking for help again can be difficult. We are eternally grateful for the incredible support we received a few years ago for Liam’s dog, Genji.
