Lehigh Acres Christian School was born of a dream where the children of Lehigh Acres, Florida, could receive a good education in a safe environment.
In 2018, when we were founded we were the only private school in the heart of Lehigh Acres. The other private schools near us had long waiting lists, so the need was great. We started with 3 students and quickly grew to 140 students in the 6 years since our founding. We have seen struggling kids with failing grades make it on to the A/B Honor Roll. We have seen students’ faces light up as they learn a new aspect of God and His character, and we have seen kids accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
As a Christian school we have always made a point to treat our governmental authorities with respect. We contact them ahead of time for inspections, we don’t ask for extensions on time frames, and we stay in constant communication to ensure we are complying with what they’ve asked.
In February, we requested an inspection on a new building we would be moving into during that summer. We wanted to make sure it was in compliance with the regulations before we moved in. We were told they would not come until after we moved in. Once we had moved in, and the inspection was complete, it was discovered that to make that building in compliance it would cost well over $150,000, and months of permitting and red tape. The Department of Education gave us only 30 days. The Department of Health sent us an immediate cease and desist order. Students and staff are safe and the water is being tested frequently to insure this.
Our school leadership has been in constant contact with our local government and state government to rectify this situation. The tides are starting to turn, and things are slowly starting to look up. It’s going to be a long and expensive road. As the unjust threat of losing all government financial aid looms, LACS finds itself in need of generous donations from individuals who care about the liberty of private education.
As a private school that receives state funds we try to keep our tuition and costs under what the state provides so that way our families don't have to pay anything. This means we have to work with a wire thin budget. Please prayerfully consider helping keep the doors of Lehigh Acres Christian School open.
