Help Leah in her FIGHT against Brain Cancer!!!

It was just a regular day with regular plans…and then something just doesn’t seem right with your daughter…your down to earth, carefree and laidback girl starts complaining of numbness, has confusion and loses her balance.  A quick check up to the doctor turned into, blood tests, spinal fluid tests, CT scans, MRI’s and a grueling biopsy procedure to the brain…and the results turned into a parent’s worst nightmare…words no parent should ever hear…your daughter has cancerin the brain...

What? She is only 17, still in high school, has dreams, aspirations…so much life ahead of her to live…
Leah and her family learned this news just one week after being admitted to Toronto Sick Kids Hospital.  They were told that their only daughter had Gliometosis Cerebri, also known as Glioblastoma…stage 4.  This is a rare primary brain tumor that infiltrates the brain with neoplastic glial cells that affect various areas of the cerebral lobes.  These malignancies consist of infiltrative threads that spread quickly and deeply into the surrounding brain tissue…which makes this a very difficult tumor to treat and fight – but Leah and her family are banding together to do all that they can to treat this horrible invasion…but the treatment isn’t going to be pretty.

Treatment is going to be grueling.  It will include both radiation and chemotherapy to slow and shrink the growth of the tumor.  The reality is the cancer in Leah’s brain is inoperable…however the necessary treatment she will undergo will help her to live a full life, so that she can continue to be a young, carefree, down to earth teenage girl.

Over the course of the next year, Leah will require a large amount of medication, treatment and hospital care.  All of this is expensive…and we are reaching out for help…please help us, help Leah get the medical help she needs to embark on this battle ahead of her.

Leah, with her parents by her side, refuse to let this situation be a doomsday scenario.  They are banding together to ensure that their daughter has what she needs to live life to the fullest, live and breathe the power of positive thought, and to never give up hope!

Leah’s friends and family are in awe of her amazing ability to remain positive, hopeful, cheerful…despite her prognosis.  Her overall attitude and gratefulness to her doctors, nurses, support team, family and friends are inspirational!  But – the Kheder and Hilborn families need your help to help their little girl…her quality of life depends on it…

Please donate whatever you can to help Leah in her fight.  All funds will go directly to Leah, her medical care and her family, so that she can get the treatment she needs and to ensure her parents are always by her side while she battles this disease.  Any leftover funds will be donated to the Brain Tumor Foundation of Canada in Leah’s name.
