Support Lane's ESL/ABSE/ALS/IP Part-time Staff!
As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, Lane Community College recently laid off 376 classified part-time staff . These staff members were an integral part of the college's day-to-day operations and provided essential student services and support. Almost 100 of these staff members were also students at Lane. And many others have served the Lane community faithfully for almost a decade.
This page is specifically for the staff members who worked in Building 11 in the ESL, ABSE, and ALS Departments or International Programs office and were laid off this week. Any extra funds raised will go to scholarship funds for students in these departments.
This includes 4 people from International Programs, including Beth Schenderlein, Marie Rodiet, and Kana Matsumoto; 4 people from ABSE, including Valerie Munthe and Shelley. Hook; 1 person from ESL, including Nallely Martinez; and others from ALS. Anyone from these four departments who was laid off but didn't choose to publish their name here will still get their share of these funds.
Our goal is to raise $1,000 for each staff member for a total of $10,000 by April 10. While we realize this is a very short time frame, the circumstances dictate haste. We are asking all LCC faculty, staff, and community members to tangibly demonstrate support for our classified part-time staff. Let's show them that they are valued members of our community!
Many thanks!
Kelsey Daniels, Jen Sacklin, Nancy Wood, Aliscia Niles, Indy Bakshi, and Katie Hachimoto
Note: This fund is specifically for those who were laid off and did not get an extension to May 15th. If those May 15th layoffs do actually go through, we will make a new plan to include them (excluding Jen Sacklin, who's helping to run this page.)
