Thank you for visiting our GoFundMe! I am raising funds for my Daughter, Lacy, as she grapple with medical bills and living expenses during a very challenging year of their live. Lacy has been courageously battling stomach illness for over a year, and on December 20th 2024 was hospitalized and diagnosed with SMA Syndrome.
Superior mesenteric artery (SMA) syndrome is a rare and potentially fatal condition that occurs when the superior mesenteric artery compresses the duodenum. It's characterized by a narrowing of the angle between the abdominal aorta and the SMA, which compresses the third part of the duodenum. SMA syndrome is most common in patients who have experienced rapid weight loss, which can be caused by chronic illness, bariatric surgery, eating disorders, or substance abuse. Only 3% of people are diagnosed with this in America.
She just started a full-time job at Papa -Johns but was only able to work for about three weeks before having these stomach pains.
Lacy would never make this request and its really hard for me too. We are proud, hard-working, resilient, and independent. But I do not believe she should have to face this alone, especially for an illness, which could strike any of us at any time. Any amount helps, and we are so grateful for your care!
We are now getting with the doctor to see why these test came back as not SMA.
