Support La Cocina de Consuelo (Burnet Rd in Austin, TX)
Donation protected
Final Update, July 20th, 2024:
Hi all, just to let you know that on July 10 we presented to Letty a check covering all donations. Donations amounted to $1,430, minus GoFundMe administrative fees of ~$55, so we rounded it up and were able to contribute $1,400 to the needed repairs and updates.
Thank you so much to everyone who contributed!!! La Cocina de Consuelo was closed this week for one of their 2 weeks of vacation (the 2nd week is over Christmas), so hopefully many people will be back next week to continue to enjoy delicious Mexican food and keep all restaurants in the hood busy and humming! Thank you again to everyone for following this, for caring, and for giving as you were able. Sincerely, Fabian
Update 2, July 9th, 2024:
Hey, y'all, thanks to everyone who contributed, you guys are awesome! I plan to stop by the Cocina de Consuelo on Wednesday, 7/10, at 2:30pm, to present Letty with a check. If anyone wants to stop by then to help congratulate them (and maybe order some to-go food?), please join us!
(And of course, if anyone still wants to give, don't hesitate! All donations will continue to be delivered to Consuelo's.)
Update:
I spoke with Leti at Consuelo's today and she is so grateful for the support of the neighborhood and her customers! The door is fixed temporarily and, of course, they are open for business! It turns out the burglers apparently tried to get in the back window first and cracked that as well, so more repairs needed.
Thanks to everyone who has given, or stopped by La Cocina de Consuelo to support them! I will distribute collected donations this week, and then any further contributions the week after. Please don't hesitate to message me with any questions.
Original Post:
In the early hours of June 28, masked criminals broke down the front door of La Cocina de Consuelo on Burnet Road and stole the cash register. The front door is basically destroyed.
It's such a bummer that we have to deal with such crime in our neighborhood now. And that after another recent incident where their insurance wouldn't cover damages from weather damage.
So maybe we can support our neighborhood restaurant and pay for some of the loss, make sure they stay in business, stay in the 'hood, keep people employed. If there's something you can comfortably give. I'm sure if there were any money left over they will bring it back into the neighborhood.
Also, please stop by at Consuelo's if you have a chance and show them your support! Or order some food, it's amazing.
FYI: I have not spoken with anyone at Consuelo's about this fundraiser, nor do I know them beyond being a customer. I just happened to be there yesterday picking up food when she was speaking to a contractor about replacing the door. I would give them any money raised "on behalf of their customers".
(I don't have any personal interest here beyond being a fan of Consuelo's restaurant, and all local restaurants and business, and I will not benefit in any way from any funds raised!)
Thank you!
