<div>We’re reaching out to ask for support for my sister, <strong>Krista, who just gave birth to her baby girl unexpectedly at only 27 weeks gestation.</strong> After a high-risk pregnancy and many complications, her daughter entered the world far too soon and is now facing a long and difficult journey in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

<div>This pregnancy has been especially hard for Krista. Early on, she lost her job due to budget cuts with a grant-funded position, and despite her best efforts, she has not yet been able to find new employment while navigating a high-risk pregnancy and now the emotional and physical challenges of NICU life. Because the baby arrived so early, she hadn’t yet had a baby shower or a chance to prepare.

<div>She will be staying near the hospital at the Ronald McDonald House, which provides an incredible resource—but meals are not covered on the weekends, and daily expenses are beginning to add up. Once her baby is finally strong enough to come home, she will need the basics: diapers, clothes, bottles, a car seat, and more.
