Support Kolbi & His Family

My family had the honour of meeting a brave little boy two years ago.  His name is Kolbi and he became a quick kindergarten buddy, at Pacific Heights Elementary, to our Ronin.  It was at Kolbi’s birthday party that we learned of the harrowing battle he had already faced in his short life with childhood cancer.  Unfortunately just a short time into Kindergarten the family discovered cancer was back again for a 3rd time and Kolbi would be facing a big battle. Kolbi is diagnosed with Anaplastic Ependymoma which is a cancer that effects his spine and brain and is inoperable/incurable. Fast forward to today, Kobli who is only 7 years old has fought a long and hard battle with his dad Nick and step-mom Jamey at his side every step of the way.  Kolbi has suffered more than any little boy who should be starting Grade 2 in a few short weeks should.   His condition has worsened in the past few weeks and he is experiencing an increase in seizures,  some temporary loss of speech, a decline in his cognitive health and significant increase in his pain.   He is wheelchair bound, paralyzed from the waist down and the next steps from his oncologist team is to try to treat or improve his seizures, another round of steroids to try to alleviate pain and make him as comfortable as possible. Like so many families, Nick & Jamey have been impacted by COVID forced employment changes. Nicks medical EI has recently expired and they are awaiting to see if CERB or any other government program will be an option.  The stress of supporting a family while caring for a very sick child is a worry no family should face alone.  Please support them in any way you can, every donation goes to Nick and Jamey being able to spend these difficult days ahead with Kolbi. *** AUGUST 11 UPDATE: Kolbi's medical team has decided to increase his seizure medicine by another half a dose and if that doesn’t work to decrease his seizures they will have to try a different medicine but it has more side effects.
