<div>Kiera is a 23-year-old from Bemidji, Minnesota who has been struggling with health issues since she was a toddler. Currently those consist of a gene mutation causing hypermobility and hypotonia, as well as a recent diagnosis of fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue.
</div>
<div>Currently, she's undergoing various tests as her neuromuscular doctor suspects she may have a type of spastic paraplegia, or a similar condition, but we are still left trying to find answers.
</div>

<div>Unfortunately, doctors have advised us that insurance would refuse to cover a wheelchair for her as it would be considered "community use", and her insurance will only cover it if she's dependent on it within her home. We tried contacting programs, but the grants we've looked into tend to be specific to spinal cord injuries, so she wouldn't be eligible for them.

<div>The most we’ve been able to get insurance to approve is a walker to help prevent falls.
</div>

<div>Our hope with her getting a wheelchair is that it will help her maintain independence, allow her to attend family events, and enjoy smaller outings such as going on dates with her husband without having to worry.
