<div>as we thought we were in the clear, it was not as it seemed. Kevin had an oncologist appointment today and it was confirmed the mass that was removed was stage 3 colon cancer. He was also diagnosed with lynch syndrome. We didn’t think he would have to do any serious treatments since only 1 of 35 lymph nodes came back cancerous. Starting sometime in the beginning of february kevin will begin his chemo radiation. He will start with a 14 day 2 pills a day cycle followed by chemotherapy through iv. The 4 th week will be to rest, and the whole cycle with repeat for at least 3 months. with that being said kevin as our sole provider will continue to be out of work for another 3-4 months. As this will financially be tough. Over all we need prayers.

<div>As some know, on September 26, 2024, <strong>Kevin was in a pretty bad head-on collision</strong>. He didn’t go to the ER from the scene as he was worried about everyone else and his truck. When everything got cleaned up and put where it was gonna go, I asked if he wanted to go since he was complaining about some pain in his back, head, and shoulder. He kept fighting me with it, but I felt we needed to go. We got to the ER, and they started running scans and blood tests. All of the scans came back showing no breaks or anything of that sort, but a lump on his thyroid, and the blood work was off. They couldn’t exactly explain anything except for the fact he had no iron whatsoever and no red blood cells. They decided to send his labs and test results to an oncologist and told us they would reach out to us.

<div>Fast forward two weeks, I kept having bad gut feelings something's wrong, and nobody has yet to reach out. We call the oncologist, and they leave a note for the doctor.

<div><strong>The next morning, we get a call from the doctor saying we need to drop everything and get to the ER ASAP</strong>. We get there and walk into a team of 5 nurses and doctors, and there are no words to explain that feeling. They run more tests, take x-rays, and do more blood work. His iron is just about completely gone at this point, but everything else seems okay. All they can tell us is he’s internally bleeding somewhere, and it was not caused by the wreck. They do an iron supplement transfusion in hopes it will pick up his levels and schedule him with a gastro specialist. It’s a couple of weeks before we can get in, so now we’re just playing the waiting game and giving it to God. During this time, we got baptized and found out we’re expecting a little baby come August 2025. We go to the gastro for his endoscopy and colonoscopy on December 19, 2024. The results for the endoscopy were amazing, praise God. But the colonoscopy had some scary results. They found little polyps in the rectum, which were removed during, and a large mass in the ascending colon. They already presented it to us as cancer but weren’t 100% sure, so we were to wait for pathology.

<div>On December 23, 2024, we go in to see Dr. Cheriku and his team to talk about the images and the next steps we would have to take. We immediately get sent to a general surgeon, and they call for immediate surgery to remove the mass. They decided the best option for Kevin would be to remove 1/3 of his colon, which would be the whole ascending colon where the mass rests, and they will tie his small intestine back into his large. They are going to be doing chemo/radiation of some form, but we are yet to know exactly what. On December 24, 2024 (Christmas Eve), Kevin gets a phone call confirming it’s colon cancer, but we are yet to know what stage. Surgery will be taking place on January 9, 2025. With all this being said, he cannot apply for FMLA through his job because he has not been there a year and could very possibly lose his job through all this. Who knows how long he will be missing work for recovery and chemo/radiation. This will not be an easy recovery, but with God, all things are possible. <strong>All donations will go directly to Kevin’s medical bills as well as other financial burdens while he is down</strong>. Finding out he had cancer on Christmas was enough stress, and I just want to make this as easy as it can be for him. We need all the prayers; he will be healed in Jesus' name and be the best dad possible for our little one on the way. Thank you in advance for any and all donations, shares, and prayers.
