I hardly ever ask for help, neither do my parents, but I think right now is a good time for that rare ask.
My father was just diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, my mother is currently undergoing scans to see if the lesions on her Pancreas and Liver are cancerous as well.
Let me tell you about my parents, Kevin and Lori.
Kevin grew up in the Midwest, one of three siblings in a small, close-knit family. Lori, on the other hand, was raised in the South in a large but still close family, the second youngest of seven children. They came from very different worlds—but fate brought them together in Dallas, Texas, in 1981 when Kevin followed his brothers there. Just one year later, in July of 1982, they were married.
This July marks 43 years of marriage for them—43 years of love, struggle, strength, and resilience. Together, they’ve raised a daughter, endured health challenges, grieved the loss of siblings and parents, and weathered all of life’s uncertainties side by side. They’ve always found a way to carry on, no matter how hard things got.
But now, they’re facing the toughest chapter of all.
On May 6, 2025, our family received devastating news—Kevin has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He turns 67 this year, and while his body is tired he is willing to fight, his heart is full of hope and he has a deep desire to spend whatever time he has left in the comfort of his childhood home. More than anything, his priority is making sure Lori and I are cared for when he no longer can.
To make matters even more heartbreaking, Lori is undergoing her own health scare. She has a biopsy scheduled for May 22nd to determine whether the lesions found on her pancreas are cancerous as well.
Kevin and Lori are both on fixed incomes—Kevin receives Social Security, and Lori is on Disability. As medical bills begin to pile up and funeral planning becomes a looming reality, they’re facing a level of financial stress no one should have to endure, especially during such an emotionally painful time.
This GoFundMe is to help ease that burden. Donations will go toward monthly bills, cremation and funeral expenses, and travel costs to bring me—Tayllor—their daughter, back from Virginia to Illinois so I can help care for them in the days ahead.
Any amount, no matter how small, will make a difference. Your generosity will allow Kevin and Lori to focus on spending meaningful time together, instead of worrying about how to make ends meet.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your support, prayers, and kindness during this incredibly difficult time.
With gratitude,
Tayllor
