Next year, Artistic Director Keith A. Thompson and his company danceTactics performance group are proud to announce two important and exciting performances in New York City.
The first is at the Florence Gould Theatre at L´Alliance on Saturday, January 11th. A showcase organized by KMP Artists, this one-night-only performannce will be an opportunity for both the public as well as industry professionals to see a mixture of exciting repertory from danceTactics, as well as glimpse some new works-in-progress.
The second will be a series of performance during the first week of the internationally acclaimed La MaMa Moves Festival, curated by Nicky Paraiso. danceTactics will be presented the world-premiere of the Love Alone Anthology Project, a multimedia dance performance inspired by the writings of poet & AIDS activist Paul Monette. This will be the first time this project has been shown in its entirety, as well as the first time all of the production and design elements will be integrated with the dancers and the choreography. The Love Alone Anthology Project will performed at the Downstairs Theatre at La MaMa on Thursday-Sunday, April 10-13th, 2025.
While danceTactics will receive a percentage of ticket sales from their performances next year, we need your help to cover all of the upfront costs between now and mid-April. This includes everything from rehearsal space rentals over the next five months to round-trip airfare for Keith to come to New York from Arizona multiple times, to costs related to advertising, marketing, production equipment, dancer and design fees, and more. Altogether, the total budget is about $30,000.
This sounds like a lot of money, right? And for a small, independent group like ours, it is. While danceTactics applies to multiple private and public grants throughout the year, those kinds of financial resources are always tenuous, and have only become more competitive in recent years. In addition to ticket sales and applying for various art grants, we also need to fundraise.
