<div>Hi all, I am ShaNan and I have known Katie Mathewson since we were babies. Our parents became friends when they decided to adopt child(ren) from Korea... almost 42 years later and the rest is history.

<div>Katie went in for a mammogram and was told that something was suspicious and was set up for another kind of mammogram and ultrasound. That appointment led to a biopsy and thereafter she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

<div>She had a lumpectomy in June and was told that based on her onco type and other pathological factors, she has grade 3 invasive ductile carcinoma that is estrogen receptor-positive (high-grade cancer that is fueled by estrogen and is aggressive) and will have to go through chemo, radiation, then a drug regime for 5 to 10 years. Obviously, this news has been quite a shock to Katie, her family, and her friends.

<div>Katie is currently out of work for an undetermined amount of time and will be incurring some unforeseen medical costs as well as costs associated with being a cancer patient.

<div><strong>Katie is a hardworking, single (badass) mom that is raising her son, Luke, who just turned 2.</strong> She is always willing to go out of her way for others to put a smile on their face, offer to pick up something if you're not feeling well, or just check in to make sure that you're doing okay if she hasn't heard from you in a while. <strong>My hope is that we can lighten Katie's financial load during this challenging chapter of her life. No amount of donation is too small.</strong>
