Given her family history, she took the important step of getting it checked out. Just two days later, while waiting in the preschool pickup line, Kassidy received the life-altering news: she has stage 3 invasive ductal carcinoma.

<div>This aggressive cancer has already spread to her lymph nodes, and Kassidy is set to begin weekly chemotherapy next week. Following that, she will undergo a double mastectomy and have her ovaries removed, with radiation therapy to follow.
