 A little over two years ago, I decided to lace up a pair of running shoes and see what I was capable of. At 49 years old, I ran my first marathon. I never imagined that decision would lead me to the opportunity to run the Sydney, Australia Marathon , one of only eight Abbott World Marathon Majors, the most prestigious marathon series in the world. If I’m able to make the trip, Sydney will be my third marathon and the biggest challenge of my running journey so far.

 This year, I was fortunate enough to be selected through the Sydney Marathon ballot. For me, this is so much more than a race. It would be my first time traveling outside the United States, running alongside people from all over the world, and achieving a dream I never thought would become reality.

 Over the past several months, I’ve been doing everything I could to make this trip happen on my own. Like many people, life threw a few unexpected financial challenges my way this year, and despite my best efforts, I’m running out of time to cover the travel costs before final bookings need to be made.

 That’s why I’m asking for help.

 If you’re able to contribute , you’ll be helping me get to the starting line in Sydney. Every donation will go toward airfare, lodging, meals, and transportation. For transparency, the flight is roughly $2750. Lodging is approximately $1,600. Hotel prices during marathon weekend are significantly higher than usual. This also includes arriving a few days early to adjust to the 15-hour time difference and staying briefly afterward for race recovery before traveling the long journey home. My first international race. My first time to leave the country and get that first passport stamp. If donating isn’t possible, sharing this fundraiser with your friends, family, or fellow runners would mean just as much.

 Running has changed my life in ways I never expected. It’s given me purpose. Tested my limits. It gave me a sense of belonging and an incredible community where I’ve created many valuable friendships. Today, at 51 years old, this opportunity represents perseverance, taking chances, and proving that it’s never too late to discover a new passion or chase a dream.
