Last weekend, my husband Justin Fahrenkrug suffered a serious accident to his hand while working with a hedge trimmer, which forced him to miss work for several days. Just as we were adjusting to that setback, Justin collapsed unexpectedly in our bathroom, losing consciousness for several minutes and sustaining multiple injuries. He fractured his nose, part of his neck, and damaged his already fragile teeth, along with a concussion and contusions on his face. The ER was unable to determine the cause of his fainting, so Justin now needs ongoing follow-up with specialists and an ENT to get answers and ensure his recovery. Thankfully, his CT scan showed no brain damage, but the road ahead is uncertain and filled with medical appointments and expenses.
Justin works two jobs to support our family. I work one job, but I am temporarily taking on his other job as he recovers, so I am working two jobs for now. Even with this, losing the income from his second job has put a significant strain on our household. Our savings were already depleted from unexpected expenses, including car repairs and new tires, and now we’re struggling to keep up with bills, food, and basic necessities. We’re applying for grant help from the hospital for some medical costs, but there’s no assistance for dental care, and we need help covering the loss of income for essentials like groceries and utilities. Every dollar raised will go directly toward Justin’s medical bills, specialist visits, dental care, and keeping our family afloat during this difficult time.
Justin is the kind of person who always puts others first—supporting our family and friends long before his own needs. He never asks for much, except maybe a little money for his favorite audiobooks. We’ve sacrificed our own care to make sure our kids have what we never did, especially when it comes to dental health. Justin is our rock and my strength, and now he needs help to get back on his feet. Any support you can offer will make a real difference for Justin and our family as we navigate this challenging chapter.
