The Granger family has dealt with tremendous challenges and little Justice has endured so much. This fundraiser has been set up for Justice's family to receive support to help take some financial pressure off and to allow his mom, dad, and sisters to stay in Vancouver full-time with him while he receives his cancer treatment. The Grangers are from 100 Mile House, BC and Justice is currently being treated at BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver.
Justice's Story:
In the spring of 2014, Justice was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL). He was just 2 years old. Since that time he has undergone continuous tests, painful surgeries, countless blood transfusions, and rounds of chemotherapy and other drugs. He has been in and out of hospitals his entire life and has had so many close calls with losing his battle. He’s experienced organ failure, septic shock, and infections. Following surgery to place a port line, Justice didn’t wake up for days, and when he finally awoke, he couldn’t speak and was unaware of his surroundings. The doctors concluded that he suffered from permanent brain damage. Thankfully, over time, his voice and spirit returned. Over the years, Justice’s cancer has gone into remission for short periods of time, giving him and his family some much deserved relief, only to return again and again.
In the beginning of May 2020, Justice had completed his most recent maintenance chemotherapy treatments and received an award for bravery. This was a huge moment of relief and celebration. Just days later, his family received a call with the worst news possible, his blood work had come back irregular, and further tests confirmed that the cancer had returned, yet again. Justice has been in the hospital ever since receiving countless treatments and procedures. Leading up to his bone marrow transplant, he developed a fungus in his lung and had to have half of one lung removed. Once he was healthy enough, he underwent his bone marrow transplant using his brave sister Serenity's donated stem cells. Since then he's slowly been recovering with some steps forward and some steps backward. Finally, after 9 long months in the hospital, Justice was discharged in January of 2021! He is getting stronger each day, but will remain in Vancouver for the next couple of months for medical supervision and follow-up treatments. After that, if all goes well, he will be able to go home with his family to 100 Mile House. He will continue to travel to Vancouver monthly and Kamloops periodically for appointments. Juctice's journey has been full of ups and downs and uncertainty, but the things that have always remained the same are his courage, hope, perseverance, and spirit.
