<div>On October 17, 2024, JoHannah (Josie) Payne passed away in her home from a sudden illness. To those who knew her, Josie was a kind, effervescent soul who was fiercely intelligent and wickedly funny. She was a huge music lover and she adored her beloved dogs Bixby, Cooper, and Ole.

<div>Josie grew up in Fort Dodge with her older brother Jonathan. She graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1994 and from the University of Iowa in 2002 with a BS in Nursing. Josie spent years devoted to caring for moms and their newborns as a labor and delivery nurse in the Iowa City area. After developing some difficult medical issues, she moved back to her home town of Fort Dodge where she worked in various medical jobs, including caring for dialysis patients, until her back issues made it impossible to work.

<div>Josie had two spine surgeries in August of 2022, and had been suffering debilitating pain and mobility issues since then. Her Mom, Judy Payne, has been caring for Josie, physically and financially, for the last few years, which has taken a heavy emotional and financial toll.
