Support Jono and Lisa

Our dear friend Jono, a Senior Constable with the NSW police force, was struck by a car on Friday 16th February whilst setting up an RBT in Leumeah. He was just a bloke going to work, supporting his family and protecting his community. He and a colleague, Matt Foley, were both hit and seriously injured. Jono sustained life threatening injuries, with his leg traumatically severed in the accident. Today, because of the sheer stupidity of the driver looking at his phone, he is facing the reality of life as an amputee.
Lisa and Jono have a long and arduous road ahead of them. They've been inundated with messages of love and support, all of which I know are so greatly appreciated. There have also been dozens of requests for how people can help. We all feel helpless and just want to support this beautiful family. Probably the only thing that's actually within our power right now is to help ease their financial stresses so they can focus on what's important, Jono's recovery. That's why we, Lisa's colleagues from Campbelltown Hospital, set up this GoFund Me page. To give everyone somewhere productive to channel their grief and support. If you can spare any amount, no matter how small, I know they'll be eternally grateful. At the conclusion of the designated timeframe set by GoFundMe all the monies raised will be handed over to Lisa and Jono to use towards paying the mortgage and bills as they see fit.
Sharing this page would also be hugely appreciated, simply to raise awareness about using mobile phones whilst driving. Next time you think of reaching for your phone when you’re behind the wheel, please think of Jono. Think of his whole life now so dramatically altered. Think of his kids and wife who will share this journey with him and be just as heavily impacted by it. Think of your own families waiting for you at home. Think of the people in the cars around you not as nameless, faceless nobodies but as husbands, wives, sons and daughters. People who are loved and just want to get home safe too.
