Help Support the Wah Family: In Memory of Jonathan Wah
With heavy hearts, we share the devastating news that our dear friend and valued employee, Jonathan Wah, has passed away after bravely battling cancer and complications from organ failure. Jonathan’s fight was one of incredible strength, and while he is no longer with us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Jonathan was the middle child of Grace Wah and Moo Ler, who fled religious, ethnic, and political persecution in Burma through the NC Refugee Assistance Program. They built a new life in Carrboro and eventually settled in Haw River. Jonathan’s family, including his older sister Jennifer and younger brother Jefferson, have always been pillars of the Karen Community Church. The Wah family’s resilience and unwavering strength shaped Jonathan into the compassionate, hardworking young man we cherished.
Jonathan grew up in our community, attending Scroggs Elementary, Culbreth Middle School, and graduating from Carrboro High School. He was a dedicated student and a hardworking young man, always striving to better himself. We met Jonathan while he was attending Alamance Community College, where he was training to become an HVAC technician. Even at just 20 years old, he showed remarkable maturity, kindness, and work ethic that touched everyone around him. Jonathan’s life, though far too short, was one filled with love, perseverance, and a deep commitment to his family and community.
Sadly, despite having insurance, Jonathan’s family is still burdened with significant medical bills and funeral costs. His passing has left a hole in the hearts of all who knew him, and his family now faces the added strain of these financial challenges.
How You Can Help:
We are asking for your support to help cover the funeral costs and remaining hospital bills that have accumulated during Jonathan’s battle. Your donations, no matter the size, will provide his family with some much-needed relief during this incredibly difficult time. They are grateful for your prayers and appreciate any support you can offer.
We understand that these are challenging times for many, but if you can contribute, it will make a meaningful difference in lifting some of the weight from the Wah family’s shoulders. Please consider donating to Jonathan’s GoFundMe to help ease their burdens and show them that they are not alone.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support. The Wah family is eternally grateful for your love during this heartbreaking time.
May Jonathan’s memory continue to inspire us all to live with the same strength, kindness, and resilience that he showed every day of his life.
